As a kid, the only thing I ever wanted was to entertain other people. Musicians of all kinds played music into the early hours of the morning in my chaotic home filled with art. My parents, both being musicians, encouraged me to explore my curiosities and imaginations which became the catalyst of my passion. When I first started dancing at Alvin Ailey, the live percussive instrumentation pulsated off of the walls and became the heartbeat of my childhood.
I moved to New York City when I was thirteen to study at LaGuardia High School. After being accepted into the vocal, dance, and drama programs, I did vocal for a year before ultimately switching to drama.
When COVID-19 hit New York, I spent my days creating music in my room and belting for hours on end so loudly my neighbors would send us noise complaints. When I came back to school, I knew more than ever that I wanted to pursue the arts.
I continue my education now at Boston University's School of Theater getting a BFA in Acting with a Dance Minor and a Musical Theater Concentration.
To me, art is an act of service. Acting is about understanding yourself deeper than anything else and using your own experience to empathize with others. I hope that when I perform, it is truthful and expressive. At BU, I have learned the most important theme across everything I do is the embrace of failure. My teachers have encouraged me to express myself in ways that make me extremely uncomfortable and nervous. For me, that's when the best work typically begins.
"Art, by itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos." - Stephen Sondheim
